PRINTED COPIES OF EXTENDED ESSAYS
All the Extended Essays of NIST IB Diploma students are printed and bound by Subject Group each year — and available to read in the Secondary Library.
The grades of each are pencilled in the Table of Contents for each volume.
You can search for the yearly volumes in the catalog — click here.
ONLINE COPIES OF EXTENDED ESSAYS
Starting with the Class of 2017, individual NIST Extended Essays that receive an A or B grade are available in the library catalogs as PDF files that anyone can read.
Click here to search the catalog for “extended essays PDF” — and you can add any other search terms, e.g., “biology” or “english” or whatever. Choose the “Keyword” search button.
When results are displayed, simply click the “Open” button to read the PDF.
Do remember that the Extended Essays starting with the Class of 2018 have slightly different requirements, so don’t use the 2017 EEs as exact examples to copy. (For example, starting with the Class of 2018, abstracts are no longer required in EEs.)
OTHER ONLINE COPIES OF EXTENDED ESSAYS
If you want to see some more A and B grade Extended Essays, you can search the library catalogs of United World College of Southeast Asia, as they also make their students’ work open to the public.
Click here to search the East campus catalog — adding any extra search terms before pressing the “Keyword” Search button. These EEs should all be available for you to read online.
When results are displayed, either click the “Open” button if you see one, or view the details of the record and look for a link to a “full-text PDF” and click that.
Click here to search the Dover campus catalog — adding any extra search terms before pressing the “Keyword” Search button. For this campus, be cautious about looking at any Extended Essay from before 2006 — because those are not guaranteed to be grades A or B. NOTE: These EEs may not be available, but you can at least see the questions and descriptions — and if you want to read a full copy, I can write and ask that school’s librarians for permission.
SAMPLE EE QUESTIONS
Click here for a spreadsheet which has lists of EE titles/questions for each group, as well as World Studies. Look at the different tabs. All the extended essays listed come from the NIST or the UWCSEA East library catalogs — so you can search the catalogs (links above) and read the whole essay as a PDF.
