Virtual Book Week

Thank you for all your participation in our first Virtual Book Week! It was great to pop into classes, see some of your character outfits and know that several of you purchased new books! Many of you also took fun literacy quizzes with your classes and listened to fantastic guest readers during our daily read alouds. We look forward to having an even more exciting Book Week next year, hopefully on campus!

Virtual Storyteller: Andy Wright

Andy Wright visited us via Zoom and demonstrated how to bring life and actions to stories when telling them out loud. He shared stories about Maui, his personal narrative and the origin of the Haka. Many of you showed your best moves and scariest faces during the Haka dance. We received great feedback of how funny, knowledgeable and dramatic Andy was and how you wished he would visit us on campus. Thank you everyone for your participation in these visits!

Read Alouds

It has been a pleasure sharing a variety of stories with you daily online. Your parents and teachers have expressed how much you have enjoyed these. These read alouds will be available throughout the summer for you to watch or rewatch. Remember to have a listen to some of the nominees for the 2022 Siam Book Awards.

Farewell

It has been a pleasure to be in the MLC this year as your librarian. I will be moving on to Vietnam this summer, but I want to say that I have enjoyed getting to know many of you and will miss sharing book talks and recommendations with you. I encourage you all to keep reading and finding what interests you. There are books for everyone and I know you will find them!
