The 2nd annual Neilsen Hays Young Writers Award program — for schoolchildren ages 10-18 — has started!

Please submit your entry to one of them by CORRECTION: Monday, Feb. 19th (not the 26th as we have a school holiday that week!) – so we can send in all the NIST entries together before Feb. 28th. [This post was updated Feb. 13th.]
Last year two of our students were among the winners. Aanya Oswal Monteiro took first place in the “Original short story 18 years and under (800-1,000 words)” category, and Ganpicha Sahasakul won the “Special Prize: Ambassador’s Selection Award from the Embassy of Canada for an excellent story with an environmental theme.”
Does it have to be a short story or a picture book story?
Here are the contest categories:
A. Original picture books by 12 years and under (no more than 20 pages and 500 words), Thai/Bilingual schools
B. Original picture books by 12 years and under (no more than 20 pages and 500 words), International schools
C. Original picture books by 16 years and under (no more than 24 pages and 800 words), Thai/Bilingual schools
D. Original picture books by 16 years and under (no more than 24 pages and 800 words), International schools
E. Original short story by 18 years and under (no more than 1,500 words), all schools
For categories A-D, individuals or teams of up to 3 students may submit one entry to each category. Category E is individual work only.
*IMPORTANT NOTE: Submissions that exceed page and/or word limit may be disqualified
