The 2nd annual Neilsen Hays Young Writers Award program — for schoolchildren ages 10-18 — has started!

See the information on the website (link above) or speak with Ms. Vivien Hall in the Secondary English Dept. or one of the teacher-librarians: Mr. Philip Williams in the MLC and Ms. Katie Day in the Secondary Library.

Please submit your entry to one of them by CORRECTION:  Monday, Feb. 19th  (not the 26th as we have a school holiday that week!) – so we can send in all the NIST entries together before Feb. 28th.  [This post was updated Feb. 13th.]

Last year two of our students were among the winners.  Aanya Oswal Monteiro took first place in the “Original short story 18 years and under (800-1,000 words)” category, and Ganpicha Sahasakul won the “Special Prize: Ambassador’s Selection Award from the Embassy of Canada for an excellent story with an environmental theme.”
